Just Add Ink Challenge #10

I'm soooo happy that i got to participate in this weeks Just add Ink challenge!! Especially when you see the colours... LOVE THEM!!Yes that's right even the loathed Cameo Coral, it's actually one of my favourites!! I know what you're thinking....but... it takes all sorts to make a world!!
So here is my cardI had the idea to do like a necklace card, you know like the ones that you see printed on t-shirts.

Here is a close up of my drawn in strand and the pretties flower that I coloured just by dabbing it on the ink pad. Also with the flower stamps I clear embossed them to make it shine!!

Ohhh it does feel good to have taken some time out to play along! Thanks for popping by, hope that your week is wonderful!

Is IT??

This card I demonstrated at my stamp club along with the lacy red birthday card (a couple of posts back) and the whole reason for it was originally to make an elegant FEMALE and MALE card. SO here is my supposed MALE card.

I used the scratch n' sniff technique (found at splitcoaster stampers, site down at the moment!) for the pear and did some white embossing on the velum ( I love that look!!)
So now you've seen it..... IS IT OR IS IT NOT??????

Embellish Fabric Colour Challenge

One of my favourite challenges that I love entering is that over at the Embellish Magazine.
This fortnight you need to work with fabric for your card! How cool! I of course don't have fabric laying around the place and short of going to buy some I asked Amanda (a wonderful fabric collector!!) for some pieces in red, green and blue.
I went with the green and made like a pleated skirt on the bottom, not too bad for a non-sewer!!Here is the inspiration picture...And here is my card...

I know that it seems a little.... well "bitty" some flourishes here, a bold ribbon there... but I really like how it's come up!! Do you think it works??
I added some spritzing at the end and wanted the greeting to be subtle by using Not quite navy again but noticeable by popping it out! Anyway I had fun, especially the sewing part! YAY!
Happy Saturday,

"Frost yourself!"

Just last weekend my wonderful friend Amanda celebrated her birthday! We were invited to a lovely relaxing party with such scrummy food!! My favourite was the bestest Caramel slice that you've EVER tasted and delicious cup cakes!! Yummy!!
I demonstrated this card at my Paper Dolls stamp club, I was teaching my lovely ladies the technique of FROSTING!
Each time I say that, "FROSTING" I think of that very funny movie How to Loose a Guy in 10 days!! Love that movie!! Anyway the other super cool tech I showed them, was the gorgeous lacing effect. I found this on Dawn's site My favourite Things. Also the perfect bow was on Just add Ink by Danielle, love the result of that! Do check it out!!
Well, Happy Birthday again Amanda, thanks for a great Saturday night!

Inkspirations Colour Challenge #19

I'm so excited that I've had time to make a card all before my precious treasures wake up! Of course I guess that's not hard to do when you've been out of bed since 6.25 but still little Sophia sometimes wakes early, finds me in the office and loves joining with me in making a card! This morn it was just me, me with the sunrise and the crispness of the new day.

I saw Makeesha's latest challenge last night (see above) and knew that's what I wanted to do today! I love Chocolate chip and Taken with teal together.

I've been playing lots with the wonderful new Sale-A-Bration sets (only available till the end of the month, click here to see catty) and water-colouring the pretty flowers from the Happy Moments set seemed to be a relaxing and quite! (Certainly no punching with kiddies asleep!! he he!) Some ribbon (a must in most cards I make) polka dot DSP and it was finished! Just in time to the sound of little feet walking down the hall :0)
Hope your start to the weekend is a great one! Come back again soon as I'm hoping to also join in the Embellish challenge, it's using material.... umm might be cutting some old clothes up for that one....

Just Add Ink Challenge #8

It's getting closer... Easter that is!

Of course the supermarkets have been SCREAMING it load and clear with the arrival of Hot Cross Buns and Easter treats galore for a long time now!!
So with that in mind the fabulous team over at Just Add INK have challenged us to do an Easter theme project. How wonderful that only last night at my Paper Dolls Stamp club that, that was the exact thing that I too was talking about.....
Here is my Easter Basket, made with inspiration from the new DSP that is coming out in the Autumn Mini (only 19 more sleeps!!) The colours are Orchid Opulence, Old Olive and the new and very groovy Rich Razzleberry!!

As you can see there is no Rich Razzleberry to be seen... WHY?? Do you ask, well because my pack of new pre-order goodies have not arrived yet (possibly because I've not ordered them yet, but I will!!) but the colours work so fabulously together!!
Here is a close up of the tag and detailed edge

I first saw this little basket last Easter over at Alisa Tilsner's blog but I can't find the exact place now it's been so long!
Let me know if you'd like the instructions, I'd be more than happy to post them at a later date!

The joy of flowers

For my first stamp club night a few weeks ago I made some lovely cards showing my Paper Doll ladies lots of different techniques on how to make flowers! I took my inspiration from many of my favourite blogs and came up with these:
Flowers made from ribbon:

These lovely ribbon flowers I saw at Sarah Klass's blog, she's even done a video to explain how to make them!! I love how pretty they are and their many uses, hair clips, headbands, cards etc.

Flowers with the scallop punch: Next is a flower idea from our Impressions magazine we get every month as part of being a Stampin. Up! Demonstrator, the button has been made with crystal effects and layering small circles of card stock together. I love this card

Flowers made with card stock:

I originally saw this idea at My Favourtie Things by Dawn (but I can't see the exact place right now) These flowers are really simple, all you do is rip card stock in circles and layer them to make the petals!! I love these flowers you can get such great results with so many different colours!
Then lastly was the wonderful DSP flower I saw over at TravellingMama, Tina also has step by step instructions on how to create these amazing flowers!
Flowers with DSP:
So there you have it! Which one is your favourite???

Have a super duper day, I hope it's full of flowers whether it be in the form of a hug, a smile or a friendly voice!
Smiles Sharnee :0)

All cards were made from Stampin. Up! products, if you'd like to know something specific please contact me. (far too much to list!!)

20 weeks of Cooking {sweet!} week one

Well we've done it! The first recipe for The Red Deer's 20 sweets in 20 weeks cooking feast! It was a New York cheesecake and I can tell you I was a little nervous! I don't do cheesecakes, I'm a pav girl! Yep I cook great Pavlova's (which I've been told is a kind of gift as not everyone can make successful pav's!!) but for the scrummy cheesecake.... well I was up for the challenge!
I did get the kids involved and then asked them to taste it so we could vote.
Here it is in progress...
Ezekiel getting the biscuit base ready

Hannah juicing the lemon to add

It's all getting mixed up now... hope those lumps come out... yay they did!

Ummmm, now for the tasting...

And what did the family vote??
Hannah: Hated it!!! Yes I know quite forward but that's the truth, she threw a tantrum just at the thought of eating some! Yuck mummy I don't like the sound of cheese being sweet!!
Ezekiel: Yummy Mummy! came back for second's, what more do I need to say!
Sophia: Loved the biscuit base (just like mummy) ate most of it, quite enjoyed it.
Me (mummy): Delicious!! Very impressed with my first effort
Allan (wonderful husband and daddy!): Loved it! YAY!

Next up it's the humble Cut out Cookies and the winner of that one is Chocolate! YAY bring that on ladies and gentlmen and precious kiddies of mine!!

Make sure you go and vote HERE for the latest sweet treat, the scrummy Layer Cake, the choices are Chocolate, Carrot and Caramel.
Until then, enjoy

20 weeks of Cooking {sweet!}

One of the wonderful blogs that I go to is The Red Deer. Alicia is a fun and beautiful lady with a HUGE love of cooking!! That's what her blog is all about! Anyway last week she set herself a new challenge 20 sweets in 20 weeks! Each week there will be a sweet food chosen and then a choice of 3 different recipes to then be voted on. The recipe with the most votes will then be cooked by Alicia and she will give it a rating!! How much fun is that!!??
Well it got me thinking.... firstly about the great french cooking movie Julie and Julia... then about my love for cooking....my love for sweets also..... doing something fun with the kids....a project perhaps......So I have decided to also cook (it's my second favourite thing to do after stamping!!) Each week (or at least once Alicia has posted the recipe) I, with the help of my precious kiddies, will cook the winning sweet and do so for the next 20 weeks!!! YAY! I'm soooo excited!!
Now do make sure you check out this fabulous site, and The Red Deer's wonderful array of recipes and photo's!! They will surely inspire you to get that groovy apron on and cook something yummy!!

Just Add Ink Challenge #6

Is it just me or are the weeks flying!!?? Already it's the sixth week of challenges at Just Add Ink! This week it's a sketch which is something I like as you can use whatever colours you like! I needed a Congratulations card for my wonderful brother in law who started a new job today!!YAY!!
To make the background I just dabbed the card stock onto the sides of the ink pad to create those criss cross lines, the rest is pretty simple.
Hope your week has started off super duper,
