Perfectly Rustics challenge #7 - Embossing

Another challenge is up and running over at Perfectly Rustics this week and it's all about Embossing!! My dear friend Heather LOVES embossing and I've grown quite partial to it myself over the years so that's why I chose it for this challenge!

I have made a tag for a lovely ladies birthday present but if you like you can put it on a card. Like this.....

What do you prefer, the gift or the card?!? Love to see you join in with Kim, Jayne and I for this challenge! Thanks for popping by,

Scrap and Music: Sketch #10... Time of your life

Next month is a HUGE month for our family!! We will have three VERY BIG BIRTHDAYS to celebrate!!!
So when I saw the Scrap and Music sketch for this month I was keen to capture my wonderful birthday people and scrap it ready for my calender!!!
I'm really in shock that in weeks our sweet little Sapphire Lizzie will be ONE!!! Not to mention that my fabbo Hubbie 40 and our amazing son 10!!!! (even now I'm shaking my head in dis-belief!!!!)
SO here are some close ups of my page......

The Title is done with ABC-123 Outline Alphabet & Numbers
and the journalling with my very old type writer!

Such a great set the Sketched birthday is and the Chalkboard Talk too!

Some rolled candles were a focus at my Paper dolls this month, 1 girlie one and two boy ones!
What a beautiful sketch to play with! Thanks Scrap and Music for the inspiration!!!

JUST ADD INK #181

Quickly I'm here to show you my card I did with the fabbo colours of the JAI challenge! I needed a card for a boy's birthday, a 10 year old in fact!! So with the Happy BIG day stamp (which seemed very appopriate) the fun stars and rolled DSP candle, I was pretty happy with how it came together!!
(though you will notice I've slipped in another colour there with the gumball green candle...... allowed?!?!?
Maybe, maybe not.......)

I embossed the strips and then sanded over it with the great Co-ordinates cardstock!!! A must in your collection!!! Such a cool combo!!! Thanks ladies!! Had fun with this one!

Perfectly Rustics challenge #6 - Brayer

This time at the Perfectly Rustics challenge blog we are seeing what brayer techniques you can do on your projects!!! It's a tricky one to be sure, but after all it's meant to be a challenge!!
I struggled a bit to get an idea of what to do........ even looked around the web for some inspiration..... but in the end I went with what I know and that is to create a lovely background for a card I needed for a special friend who just celebrated her 1st anniversary of being a SU demonstrator!!! It's actually Jayne (co-design team member) who I made this card for!!

I used Garden green, wild wasabi and then Marina mist and Pacific point to create the background. Then added some of the gorgeous grunge stamps around the outside, the Backyard basics orchid for the inside and lastly a greeting from the hostess set called Express Yourself.
I love using the framelets as a frame, the one featured on my card is from Apothecary accents.
So there you have it!! I hope to one day try some more brayer techniques, like perhaps the bouncing brayer.... How about you? Have you ever used a brayer!!?? We look forward to seeing what you come up with! Until then,

SUO Challenge #78 Ribbons and Bows

This time last year I was very pregnant (HERE) and so were two of my dear friends. They had their babies in September and so I've needed some pretty special 1st birthday cards in this last week.
With the latest challenge at SUO being bows it fitted perfectly for me to make a "bow" card for my sweet little 1 year old friend.
It's quite a simple card with the focus on the cupcake stamp and the double bow! I love doing these bows, they are soooo pretty and easy too! See tut HERE!

I'm also loving using my new chalkboard framelets!! YAY and some polka dots never go astray!
What do you think?? Hope you like and thanks for popping by!

JAI - just add colour #180 Pleasant Poppies

Yay we are in Spring!!!! And with the wonder of the season and all the colour that's about the fabbo ladies at JAI have put together a cool challenge - Just Add colour!!!
I was keen to play especially with my Mum's birthday on the weekend, a card was most certainly in need!
My Mum LOVES blue so I got my Pleasant poppies inked up and started to colour, I even pulled out my new colour coach to see what other colours worked well with Island indigo and Pool party. Turns out Wild wasabi is a perfect combo!!

I really like the greetings in the Sketched birthday set, I think it's cause they are little banners, which suits me just fine! A bow and a little extra on the INSIDE!!!

Kim always does the most amazing things on the inside of her cards so today I thought I'd give that a whirl too! WOW what a difference it makes, I can't believe I've NEVER done it before!! Might be a new thing.......

So that's my take on the challenge! Do make sure you pop on over and see the other wonderful projects from the JAI ladies! Thanks for saying hello!
