Once Upon a.... Sketch January (with an origami bow)

This is nearly the end of my holiday projects, but there are other things that demand my attention now...... so I got to put together another scrapbook page, this time of my sweet little Esther only 2 years ago..... time doesn't stop hey!?
I came across this blog Once Upon a Sketch while looking for sketch's the other week and loved the layout and the journalling challenge. I do seem to struggle with journalling, especially if I haven't thought about where I'm going to in-corporate it into my page, then when I do add it I feel it's "wrecked" my page!! Ummm so certainly something to work on!
So here is my page (I've flipped the sketch to the opposite side!)

I also saw on another blog I follow THIS fabbo idea to add a bow to your project, so add a bow I did!! It's a bit tricky with DSP as it's thicker but I'm really happy with the end result and would like to add it to more projects!!
Here are some other close ups of the page

Lastly it was suggested that you could have "lesson learnt" in the journalling, so I've talked about the messy issue we have every year when it's raspberry season! Sooo much fun and so, sooo sweet!!
Hope you like my take of the sketch, thanks heaps for popping by!

SUO Challenges #88 - Heartfelt Banner designer kit

With a birthday party to prepare for I opened my new Heartfelt banner designer kit (from the Sale-a-bration flyer starting 28th Jan!) to make a sweet decoration for Hannah. At the moment over at SUO challenges they are showing off their new goodies in a challenge so this was perfect to join in on!!
I got some fun photo's of her printed then sanded all the edges. I  followed the picture for the layout (why re-invent the wheel!?) of the banner but added my own touches with stamped doilies and stamping on the fabric pennants.

I soooo love the felt balls that are included in the pack, there is even a needle
to thread them on the twine included!! FUN!!
Hannah loved her bunting when she woke up and saw it, I love it too, once the birthday celebrations are over I will change the pictures again...... such a fabbo pack!! YAY! (and all for FREE when you spend $90 or more during SAB starting 28th Jan!)

Just Add Ink #198 Blog Hop with Thinlits

Today is my special Hannah's 12th birthday!! So what do you do when you need some inspiration for a card the night before???? Go to your fav blog challenges!!! YAY Just Add Ink have a super one with the thinlits, so I was in!! I wanted to use some of the wonderful new SAB designer series paper and so here is my card.....

I love the word YAY so that was a must for the front,

then when you flip it inside it says... You're 12!!

Then I created a bunting like one of the designs in the DSP pack with some small circles punched out and folded over some twine! (opps I didn't have time to take a picture before writing in it.... sorry!! But really wanted to show you how the bunting flows from the front through the card!

I was super happy with how it turned out and when Hannah opened it this morning she too totally loved it!!
YAY!! Be sure to keep hopping to the other blogs and check out their awesomeness!!

Scrap and Music Sketch #19

More scrapping fun with this groovy sketch and Kiss me song over at Scrap and Music! Sooo love the flags and have been wanting to scrap this page from our holiday back in 2011! Such a funny story, which you can read some of in the journalling!
Here is the sketch

and my page

I used some retired paper and some co-ordinations card stock which I then sanded! (love that look) Loving the new wooden embellishments (available to buy on the 28th) and the new framelits too, this Polaroid look!! Fabbo!!
Lastly the set I used (while stamping at Kim's the other night) was Oh, Hello!! Title done with ABC-123 Outline Alphabet and numbers.

I've had a real blast scrapping so much this holidays, sadly it's all coming to an end with other priorities now to focus on! Still have a couple more to show you though......
Until then,

Creative Scrappers Sketch #259

Scrapping really is sooo much fun and I've loved having time to play lately!! The sketch at Creative Scrappers at the moment is wonderful (actually they always are!!) and I had some super cute pictures I found of Esther's 2nd birthday! WOW i can't believe how much she's grown up and how much Sapphire is looking like her...... such sweet little girls they are!
I've featured some old and some VERY NEW goodies and embellishments on my page, the DSP is the old Tea Party, the rose is also but that really gorgeous scallop wooden circle, brand new and coming from 28th Jan!! Those little arrows are also in the box of wooden delights!

The burlap ribbon is such a fav for my projects, such an earthly feel and awesome for those guy cards too!
I did pull out my sewing machine too and added some stitching......
I sooo love that little girls face as she tries to pour some "tea" into Nanny's cup!

How popular "&'s" are at the moment! I wonder what will be on trend next!?!
Thanks heaps for popping by and seeing my take on the Creative Scrapping challenge!

Perfectly Rustics challenge #14

It's time for a brand new challenge at Perfectly Rustics for the brand new year!! YAY!
Kim has come up with a colour challenge for us all to play with..... and wouldn't you know it, it has one of my least favourites colours EVER in it!!!!! Do you know what???
GARDEN GREEN!!!!!!! I couldn't believe it, I think perhaps she did it just to make me use my ink pad!! HEE HE!!! She knows my dislike for it but challenge it is and so I arose to that challenge!!!!
Here is my take:
I used the greetings from Four You, the branch from Take Care and the frame is from the Peek-a-boo die. The sweet little flower middles are those candy dots and the DSP Quatrefancy Specialty!

You will notice that I didn't do too much with the green, but it's growing on me!! (hee hee garden, growing, get it??) After making this card I came across another challenge using it also!! You can see that HERE, so I'm happy to report that my garden green ink pad AND marker is now feeling the love.......
Hope you can join us with this colour challenge, I know I'd love to see what other ways you come up with for that garden green!!

Dynamic Duos #85-Summer Starfruit and Garden Green (male birthday card)

Having fun with challenges this last week I found this colour combo at Dynamic Duos!! Now I'm not a lover of Garden green.... NOT AT ALL but I do love Summer starfruit so I thought I'd push myself and come up with something!! I got to thinking about what cards I need in the next few weeks and realized a male card is top of the list! That was helpful, men like green right??

I LOVE Hot air balloons, they are soooo, well, whimsical and fun, throw in some clouds (another absolute fav) with a retired embossing folder and the cupcake punch, some tickets from the same set as the balloon You're Amazing, a bit of sanding, a greeting (from the hostess set Postage collection) some extra balloons inside and you have the challenge card!!!! YIPPEE!!!

Using the good old garden green didn't hurt too much! It looks rather great, if I do say so myself!! (hee he)

SUO Challenge #87 Colours of January!

I'm here to show another card I've had the delight in making during this last week! The challenge is the colours of January over at SUO!! My very clever down-line Bron is one of the designers there along with a whole bunch of lovely ladies!! SO what do I think when I consider the colour of January???
EASY!!! NEW colour combo's!! With the Occasions Mini nearly released and the long awaited for Sale-a-bration catty there is always some fresh, fun new colours that have been mixed together just screaming to be played with!! SO play with them I did!!!

Colour combo here is Bakes brown sugar, Tangerine tango, coastal cabana, so saffron and very vanilla!! It's all part of the funky new Retro Fresh Suite!!! LOVE!!!! The Peachy Keen stamp set is in the up and coming mini (goes live 28th Jan) which is my feature on this card! Along with the co-ordinating On Film framelits. Then you'll notice some little gold heart on vellum!! Ohhh that's a fabbo new pack of printed vellum in either gold or silver!! YIPPEE!!!

Have a look at that wooden arrow!! Essentials wooden elements are a amazing pack of wooden goodness!! and lastly the washi tape, again all part of the new Retro Fresh Suite!!! When stamping on these it's best to use your stamp-a-ma-jig that way you'll have perfect placement!!

I took the time to stamp on the inside again with another fun frame and the greeting from From my Heart. I sponged on some of the baked brown sugar ink to soften the clean edges and give it a "retro" look.
So there you have my take on the current SUO challenge!! Loved joining in and can't wait to show you more crafty goodness in the next few days!!

Seize the Sketch #11 Challenge

While looking around for fun challenges to join in on I found this one at Seize a sketch! I was drawn to the stars and needed a card for some friends as it is their wedding anniversary today, the 10th Jan! I also wanted to make a flippy out card similar to one I'd been given in the past (thanks heaps Trish, sooo love that card!) so got out the couples FAV colours (black and red) and started creating! This is what I came up with....

I'm enjoying stamping on the inside of cards at the moment! I really like this sentiment, as I believe that all love comes from God and the couple will appreciate that too!

Thanks heaps for popping in and seeing my take on the challenge, I hope to join in again another time!!
